Im having my top wisdom teeth extracted next week and Im scared. The only work I have ever had done in my mouth were for fillings and cleanings, the dentist said that I can have gas, can someone tell me what is gas and will it put me to sleep? Id rather be under when they do this anyway.

Yep, the gas will put you out! I was apprehensive about mine, too, but it turned out to be fine. They'll give you meds afterwards for the pain, and actually the pain wasn't as bad as I expected (the meds made me nauseous so I quit taking them and just took Advil instead, and it was fine). You'll need to eat soft foods for a couple days, but pretty soon everything will be back to normal.

You will be under for the extraction. It is normal for you to be a little scared, you have to trust the people doing it. They do these types of surgerys for a living and know what they are doing. I had mine removed almost two years ago. One thing to remember is that most places will not let you drive after you get them out, due to possible side effects of the drugs. It would also be a good idea to have something in the car for on the way home in case you get sick from those same drugs, I did but it wasnt until I got back home.

Well to answer your question... The Dentist use Nitros Oxide Gas to make you fall asleep. However this is very dangerous!! Most Dentist offices don't have a Anesthesia Physcian on board to monitor you while your asleep. This is very important.

THe gas will put you to sleep. It mite hurt for a couple days but it will go away. There is gum tissue on the outside of them because they aern't like your other teeth, so if you do'nt get them pulled out it will cause gum infection. You can do it! :-}

I haven't had mine taken out, but others have, so they will either numb you or put you to sleep, the latter being the more common. It's still gonna hurt when you wake up though. X+
