The metric system is inherently efficient; but not many people use it here in the states.

Sure, just carry a conversion chart with you....be sure to marry a girl who carries one also so there will be no problem raising the kids.

I favor the metric system as well- base 10, easy to remember that an M5 is smaller than an M6 and so on.

SAE? Bigger than 1/4" is 2/4", right? No, it's 3/8", or it/s 5/16", depending on the tool you grab. then you need to think about fine pitch or coarse, and lengths in equally difficult fractions.

8 oz in a cup, two cups in a pont, four pints to a quart, four quarts to a gallon- or just 128 oz overall? How many ounces is 2 1/4 gallons?

Yeesh.

Has using the Metric system caused you problems here in the US? Are you being persecuted for your belief in millimeters and liters?

Maybe you are using the metric system because it is easy to understand, a system that doesn't use 10 as its base number may be more mysterious and be open to more interpretation, giving you more meaning in life.

Yeah...metric is so simple compared to our system of weights and measures. Like 5280 feet in a mile! 144 is a gross. A dozen is 12. The rest of the world must think we're nuts holding on to this antique system.

It depends what you are using it for. Do you want to be understood by other people? i.e are you running a business, teaching, or communicate with the public? If the answer is no then you don't have to change because the system is working for you effectively so why change.

It is really nice to see some individuality, not being taken over by the majority.

Let me give you a Hardy Ha with the placing of the question in Religion & Spirituality category.

In regard to your question...the traditional peck is also just as efficent, depending on your usage and cost of time. Do what you want--but you might also want to keep the tried and true as a back up, for emergency situations.

You could not convert fully as you would be forced to buy your milk and gas in gallons (for example). Odd how that parallels being anything but Christian in the US. I'd love to get away from religion all together, but I just can't avoid it. It's even on my money!!

Or maybe I should have said, "That's not how we do it in the US. If you don't like it, GET OUT!! If you're going to be in America, you should expect to have to learn our system of measurements."

Metric system is much easier than what we use in U.S. We should thank Brits for our troubles. Let's convert.
