The only success I ever had with excercising was on an elliptical. I did mild to moderate excercise on it for 45 minutes (generally, I would watch a movie so the time went faster) and did this 5 times per week. I rewarded myself for making it to the 45 minutes by doing light weights afterwards. I lost 25 pounds in two months. Gradually I got up to 60 minutes on the elliptical. Good luck!

I don't know if your machine has a heart rate monitor on it but you want to keep your HR in the weight loss range to shed those pounds. If you don't have a HR monitor I would suggest investing in one and learning to workout the zone 2, zone 3 area. That may all sound like a bunch of mumble jumble but trust me it works. I used to attack the machines, get my HR up to zone 4 and once and a while zone 5. All I ended up doing was putting on muscle and eating like a horse. With a little help from my son in law who is a trainer he challenged me to scale my workouts back to lower zones, for me that means keeping my HR at about 90- 105 beats per minute. I wasn't tired after working out, didn't feel as hungry and da!!! I began to loose weight. It takes time and you do maintain a good diet at the same time. For me that meant staying away from the cookies and pizza but it has been worth it. Remember a slow steady weight loss is much better than a rapid loss. Good luck

if you build up muscle the faster it will burn fat. You didn't state if you are on a diet? working out will not allow you to lose weight if you are eating too many calories each day.
