My house was built in 1894 & the walls are made of lath & plaster . I put a nail in the wall & if I don't hit the lath or a stud , it comes out .
The studs just arn't in the right place . Need to use 2 ankers .
How can I hang a big picture safely over a couch ?

I know they make ankers for dry wall , to hang things on ,but what about old plaster
A Christmas gift I had to put behind my side board until I could hang it .
Help Please

If you are going to use wall anchors, you don't need a stud. They won't work in a stud anyway. Just go to any home improvement store and look for anchors to go into plaster or drywall. You'll need a drill with a bit the size of the anchor you use. They are sold by the size you need. Ask for help. You are going to have to know the approximate weight of the thing.

How do I find the stud in a really old home?

From This Old House:

" stud finder might not work over [particular materials], so you’ll have to do it the old-fashioned way — by detective work.

Search for a line of tiny nail heads hidden in the panels' vertical seams.

Once you find one line, measure 16 inches to the right or left.

You’ll probably find another set of nails in a groove, which means you’ve found your studs."

Have fun!

P.S. What I am suggesting here is that you don't use anchors in dry wall but rather find and use the studs. Even if they are a bit far away it is MUCH better and SAFER to use the studs ..... if they are not right over the couch, run an interior wire or an exterior wire with halogen spotlights <---- will look AWESOME on the painting!

each cellular has DNA and that's consisted of two strands tightly woven around one yet another. the ingredient that stops the two strands from breaking aside is called a telomeric cap (that's random nucleotide sequences called nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid called proline . A nonsense codon is one that doesnt code for any amino acid production) every time your cells divide a small sequence is misplaced there by potential of reducing the soundness of the cellular's DNA (in layman's words). this could at last lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA starting to be risky. and often whilst a mistake happens in DNA the cellular will carry out vehicle cytolysis (cellular suicide) to stay away from issues. So once you're previous maximum of ur cells telomeric caps would be low and that they are vendors to die whilst they warfare to divide.. Whats somewhat interesting approximately this thought is the impact it has on evolution (by using fact this occurs on the two meiotic besides as mitotic divisions. meaning that a species grows previous too earlier it mutates.. yet thats a various tale)
