Ok, I have just met and started seeing someone a week ago. So far, it's going very well - we get along fantastically and have spent a bit of time together already. We have also decided not to take things too fast either - ie getting to know each other etc etc. Thing is, its Valentine's Day in 2 weeks!! What do I get him? We're going to a restaurant for a meal that night (he's booking it and making it a surprise). Please bear in mind that I'm 23 and he's just about to turn 30 and I'm going back to uni that week so will be skint. Any ideas???

Get him a card.
You've not been going out long enough to get him much else without coming across as a bunny boiler.

Valentines is for girls, if it was for men the shop shelves would be full of half price ferraris instead of fluffy red heart covered crap and cheap teddy bears

Valentines day is a hallmark day designed for girls. Guys don't really care one way or the other. I'm anti-hallmark days so I probably shouldn't be answering your question. I believe in not waiting for the calender to say you should buy something for someone. Why not surprise them in the middle of July.

Get him a card, but nothing too slushy or sentimental - that could send him running! You could also get him a pair of cuff links - something classic and smart - then when he's at work he can wear them and think of you! I think that would be just about right, and you don't have to spend a packet on cuff links - go to Argos!
