Does that mean that we have no ancestors? If we don't evolve then we don't have a past and we have always been as we are today. So, I think the lie that is history should be ended because we all know that the world was made in 6 days a hundred years ago with pixie dust and baking powder.

I guess I would be called an Evolutionist by the RR but a lot of longer life span, taller, is better health care and nutrition. When Japanese started eating a more western diet - more protein - their children were growing taller. Modern medicine and nutrition has reduced those barriers to allow us to realize our genetic potential.

I think human evolution is pretty much stifled unless something like a major epidemic comes along that will allow natural selection to work it's way.

Some people will argue different views on this one, but I would have to say that I don't think that many people are that much taller today even though we are told this by historians and I do think that any taller ones were the exceptions that just somehow were lucky to get tall as you find today.

Most of our ancestors were around 5ft give or take a few inches over or under. Today's average height stands at 5ft4 and so if this is the case, then we are not that any different from people some few millions of years ago. If you go to Africa and other eastern countries, people are a whole lot taller there and have always been that way though this is to do with the fact that we had more than one type of ancestor in our geneology and we are also derived from eastern peoples including african's but we just moved and travelled accross the land. Our height is usually determined by our genes and some people do come from families with stronger height patterns.

But even within families today that are quite tall, you wil have the odd one or two memebers who are quite small by comparison and so height can miss or skip a generation or a person. I am 5ft4 and my brother is 6ft4 and yet my mother and sister are 5ft7. I do not understand this but it is not uncommon in some families to get smaller heights amongst taller ones and every family is going to have varying degrees of height.

There is no such thing that people today are taller on average and because the average height is 5ft4 and very few people are taller then 5ft7 anyway and most are my height. So where taller people come from is beyond me unless I am ancient and just never grew?. No human alive has been less than 3ft but these are pgymy heights.

I was told recently that to be 5ft4, means that you are a pgymy by a woman of 5ft7! - that means that 70% of the world's population is pgymy!. - I could hardly beleive her nonsense. All woman I ever see are smaller than me and very few are the same height or taller (most are around 4ft9 - 5ft2 and I see these is the streets and supermarkets and at work, so how can she say that 5ft4 is the height of a pygmy when I am taller than most shorter people who are in greater abundance?.

We do have a past but it is rather complex and because even historians don't quite know the full range of neanderthal man there ever was and only that he was sociable and clever and some more intelligent that others and who survived better than others. Evolution has taken on so many different changes since the human came into being and yet we hardly know all there is to know about our ancestors.

Why do some countries have tall people like Germany and Holland, Africa and Chech republic and the Irish and English and Scottish and Swedish have smaller people? - There is clearly something amiss with our heritage and yet we don't quite know what that is and only that we have evolved from a diverse array of ancient people. Even the ancient emperors of rome could be very tall and yet in Italy, there were small woman and men living in it under 5ft - a thousand and more years ago.

This has covered the height factor.

The shorter life span is interesting but I am positive that that has a lot to do with lack of medical resources and illness rather than dietry or genetic reasons. People would live in much harder and weather exposed conditions to which they would be subjected to harsher climates than today and so things like virus' were far more rampant. Also, winters were for six months long in most parts of the european world and where we now only have just a few days frost and that is winter gone!.

People may have lived until they were older than 40 a thousand or more years ago and in the greek world they did. There was no protection against many common diseases and sexually transmitted ones may very well have been high too like HIV but no one knew what that was then and there was certainly no cure for it like there is today. I believe that that the more hotter the climate and the more abunance there was of food source, the more likely somone lived a lot longer. I am not sure if we did live longer but we do now and that means something is right with our environment if not with out evolution.

I think you should undertake a history degree and challenge some of the beleifs historians have on our past and write about what you beleive is to be the truth. I have done a history degree but am not really wanting to do anything with it but am fascinated by our past however it cam to be.

I hope I have been able to shed some light on this, but I have tried to answer with the knowledge I have even though I could be wrong. I don't think history is a lie, it just doesn't have enough written evidence to support what it says and why prehistory is something we will always be puzzled by because it is the time line when we had no documentation at all of anything and why carbon-dating is used instead,
