I don't want it to go past A1 and B1. How do I do that?

Make your A1 column wide enough to hold the words, but don't use CAPS. And abbreviate it to Dept. Budget. Put the cursor on the top line between A & B until a little black cross appears. Drag the line to the right until the words fit in your column heading.

You have two options.

1. Put your cursor in the cell, go to the menu, format, cell, alignment, mark Wrap text. Or,

2. Expand the width of column A and B

I think you mean cells A1 and A2 or you mean cells A1 and B1. Either way "merge cells" is your answer. Format - Cells - Alignment - Merge Cells (its a check box)

Either expand the widths on columns A and B, or shrink the text down to a manageable size.
