For his basic training? OF COURSE HE CANT HAVE A CELL PHONE. He is in the army now. During his basic training he will be allowed to have little contact with the outside world. Once he gets through that and settled into military life things will be a little different. Didnt he tell you any of this?

In basic training the answer is no. The reason is that you are focus to graduate as a soldier. He will have to turn in the phone once in his training unit.

Phones are privilege time because the army is training to learn a lot of skills in a short amount of time.

It is best he leave the phone at home.

Your allowed to have a cell phone after 4 weeks of AIT. They call it phase 5. He can, however, call you from a payphone as much as he has time.

he is not allowed to have the cell phone. not in basic training. its hard on relationships. he can call you once a week for about 5 minutes at a time using a calling card and a payphone. Tell him to mail you the cell phone or he will get it taken away.

Yes. He probably had it for just awhile, but all personal posessions are taken up and locked away until after basic. He should *eventually* get short phone privilages, but it could be awhile. Don't fret, and don't hold it against him. Every aspect of his life is controlled by his drill sergeant until he gets through the initial training.

when he is at basic, he wont be able to use it, expect a call when he gets there and random other calls(probably only once a week)
but when he gets to ait, tell him to keep on him and not give to the drill sergeants, this way he can still communicate with you and not run up an expensive phone card bill

He won't be allowed any personal stuff at first. They have to break him and turn him into a soldier and they can't do that if he's on the phone to his girlfriend every other day...

In boot you are not allowed anything like that. After I think that you can have things like that but that would depend on the command and what he was doing.

Depends on what type of training he's in.
If he's going to boot camp, they 're going to take his phone away.
