Hi Meat,

Skepticism is a learned trait. But following the logic you pose, God did provide you with the ability to experience opposition both good and bad, you may accept the rational that by doing such he made you a skeptic, but I would say that is how you choose to use the ability he granted you.

By the way, why would being a skeptic be the short end of the stick? Because you don't want to trust blindly, but rather want to know for your self the truth of all things, that is not inconsistent with God's plan in fact it is an integral part of the plan that many don't grasp.

No you weren't set up to fail, you just have not reached the point where you are asking the right questions and to the right source. Believe me, the source of truth is not here on yahoo! But of course I don't expect that is why you are here. :D

We all just want to have a little fun sometimes.

Love ya Steve.

I was looking at some of the other answers and needed to add a note. How could any Christian or person of faith state that God created us wit a neutral mind. All religious teaching I have ever read in any faith teaches some sort of inate propensity to achieve, progress, or attain enlightenment, perfection, goodness, etc. Nutrality or the concept of a tabula rosa is not conected with any faith I am aware of, yet I continually see these comments from people of faith when faced with a question of predisposition.

Christians believe not only in conscience (or what we refer to as the Light of Christ) but also in forordination, so how in the world could they make a statement of mental neutrality? It amazes me how little people know even of what they believe. It is because of statements like these that those who do not beleive laugh at those of faith.

We do have predispositions. We also have free agency, Weather we choose to foster and truct in our conscience, or to supress those inate feelings and follow only evidences is a choice but it does not negate the fact that all are born with an inate sense of conscience (the light of Christ).

Sorry Meat,

I know that this doesn't follow your logic but I wanted to get that out there for those who claim to be of faith but make these silly statements.

Lov ya.

I am glad God made me with a skeptical mind. It kept me from swallowing everything I learned growing up in church. I now know that religion is different from faith in God. Denominations teach more than what the Bible says and that is against what the Bible says. Thank God I was skeptical. I am a believer in God, not what man says to believe. Skeptical minds can be a blessing, not a curse. Read the Bible the way it is written and not how man tells you to. I could tell you more, but it's way to long. God may not have set you up to fail, maybe he set you up to really see and believe on him. Have you ever thought of that? Or do you believe you have to do it religiously or not at all?

your premise is incorrect.
God did not create you or anyone else with a skeptical mind.
you have the intelligence necessary to know there is a God.
God loves you.
God has not condemned you.
you have the opportunity to accept God's Gift of eternal life with Him, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
the choice is yours.
you can accept the Gift and spend eternity with God or you can harden your heart to God and refuse His Gift and spend an eternity apart from God, which is called Hell.
if you refuse the Gift, you, in fact, condemn yourself.
blaming it on God is the ultimate cop-out.
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

God did not create you with a skeptical mind. When Adam and Eve were created, they were born without sin. When Eve allowed Satan to trick her, that's when sin and as you put it,skeptism came to be

Also do not forget the curiosity he added to that creation of you. For without it you would not be willing to debate, question, argue, reason, justify or choose.

He created you in His own image.
It is our sin nature that keeps you from believing in the truth.
Just trust in Him and I promise you.....all truth will be revealed to you in due time.
