Hard to draw a picture with lines in the way... printer paper is unlined... photo paper is unlined...

a dearth of unlined paper would be a problem for artists and printers.This is getting SO OLD. What set you off this morning?

because the unlined paper stayed in an environment where they faced the same forces of competiton and weather and did not need to evolve lines to camaflouge themselves. whereas lined paper faced predation by staplers and required protection from their enemies.

I easily like the "seem" of unlined paper,in spite of the undeniable fact that my hand-writing "seems" so a lot greater valuable if i exploit lined paper,and of direction a very superb pen...(that's eighty p.c. of it good there)Oh howdy how did you get that line on your paper!!! Very clever Missy!!

Different uses for different paper. You would not want to draw a picture and have lines going through it.
