everyone gets down and depressed... i used too... every once in a while.

now im constantly breaking down
i know its just ALOT of stress...
family problems, boyfriend problems, school problems
its all caving in on me

but when i have breakdowns i cant function, i get REALLY bad migraines, and i feel empty and hopeless inside
i find myself driving and wanting to crash my car into a concrete wall
it scares me sometimes

i know its probably a phase... and im not sure if i have any big psychological problems... but lately i havnt been able to control my emotions... what should i do?

i want to goto a psychologist, but my mom will get mad at me and tell me its just a phase and to get over it because she has enough problems to deal with (my dad has ALS, a terminal illness)

im 19, so technically i culd go on my own, but i dont have alot of money and if i use insurance my mom would find out...

what should i do?
how much does it cost to visit one usually?

I would go to a local community health clinic..they are income based. I would also talk to your mom. I am sure she cares about you.. Tell her that the stress of your dad being sick is making you sick and you need to talk to a professional about it. (what u and your therapist talk about isn't her business). You can get a better therapist if you use your insurance. Mental health clinics don't care whether you get the best care or not. Talk to your mom.. If all else fails..talk to a school counselor or an adult you trust.. call any church (whether you go or not) and ask them for some kind of pastoral counseling.. you just need to talk about what is going on.. You may also need anti depressants/anti anxiety and that can only be done thru a psychiatrist.

Most cities have a mental health clinic where you can get the help you need even if you don't have money. You might think its a phase but with the right help you can make it through this alot faster. There is a lot to say for having a great support network.

Hmmm... you're right, you need to go to a psychologist. Do you have a trustoworthy aunt who can pay the bill for a visit and you can pay back? (But you have to promise to pay back...!) Or, phone or better yet, go to a psychologist, tell the secretary your problem and ask if you could pay monthy installments and sign an IOU...

Good luck, and i'm sorry to hear about your dad. Keep your chin up and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Your father is terminally ill, maybe you need to talk to someone about how you feel about that. You probably feel pretty angry, but don't feel like you ought to let anyone know and that's why life is spiralling out of control. It's okay to be angry about your dad dying, but you probably do need to talk to someone outside of your family about it.

Perhaps if you explained to your mother that you've got some difficult feelings about what's going on and you just need to talk to someone about it she might understand. Tell her you don't want to be an extra burden on her, but your feelings matter and you need a way to vent them without hurting anyone including yourself.

At this point I think you should talk to your guidance councelor.
They can help you talk to your mom so you can get help elsewhere if needed.

Try your local health department. Most people snubb their noses but they can offer low cost or free solutions. Please get help. I know how you feel and help is out there!
