Well, I'm an atheist, so I don't have any religion. However, there are a lot of misconceptions about atheism.

Here are some false beliefs about atheism:
1) Atheism is more than just lack of belief in any gods.
2) Atheists believe nothing.
3) Atheists lack morality.
4) Atheists hate god (or Jesus or other fictitious being)
5) People only become atheists because of some bad thing that happened in their lives.
6) Atheists are angry people.
7) People are just atheists because they like to do bad things (i.e. sin).
8) Atheists are elitists who think they're better than everybody else.
9) Atheists really know, deep down, that a god exists, so they aren't really atheists.
10) Atheists are evil or greedy or generally bad people.
11) Atheists worship Satan.
12) Atheism is a religion.

There are many other misconceptions made about atheists. This is an abbreviated list.

That if you're "bad" you might come back as a bug or an animal (other than a human animal).

That negtaive karma is punishment rather than enlightenment. Only Christians believe in punishment for no purpose other than to inflict pain, e.g. "hell."

That reincarnation is "new age", when in fact it is an ancient truth. It was taught by the Essenes, as one example, the Jewish sect to which John the Baptist and Jesus belonged.

I am a seventh day advenist. Some people call us an occult because we celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday instead of Sunday. Saturday really is the Sabbath. Jesus rested on the seventh day. If you do your home work, you will see this is so.

That Wiccans are Satan worshippers. We do not have any being equivalent to Satan in our cosmology. Our universe is not set up in terms of "good" versus "evil", but rather as polarities that work together to bring balance: male and female, light and dark, life and death.

That Wiccans hate Christians. We might not particularly like individual members of the faith who are being a**hats, but from our point of view every individual is free to believe what they want to believe, and in fact is encouraged to find their own path. The main quarrel we have with Christians (or anyone else) is when they spread lies about our faith or try to prevent us from exercising our religious freedom.

That Wiccans have no moral code. Our central "commandment", the Wiccan Rede, takes great dedication to follow: "If it harm none, do what you will". Most Wiccans also believe in the Rule of Three, which states that whatever you do, for good or for ill, will come back to you three times over.

That Wiccans curse people or cast harmful spells. Refer to the Wiccan Rede and the Rule of Three.

That Wiccans sacrifice animals/babies. Again, see above.

That Wiccans hold orgies/engage in sexually promiscuous behavior. In fact, because Wiccans believe that sexuality is sacred and that all acts of love and pleasure are the rituals of the Goddess, most are inclined to approach sex very carefully and engage in it thoughtfully as opposed to casually (at least in my experience).

That Wiccans are out to corrupt/convert others to our cult. For one thing, we aren't a cult: we have no centralized leadership, we do not exercise control over the personal habits of other Wiccans, and because each Wiccan is considered a priest/ess the possibility of someone arising to such a position of power is very low. We also do not prosyletize. As far as we're concerned, if someone is meant to find us, they'll find us. We don't have to "sell" our faith to anyone (as opposed to discussing it in order to dispel misconceptions or share knowledge, which is not the same thing).

That Wiccans and witches are automatically the same thing. Witchcraft is a technique that is practiced in many religious context, as well as without any religious context at all. Wicca is just one of the religions that practices witchcraft. So, most Wiccans are witches, but not all witches are Wiccans.

Everything. Thus, they make up their own things about it rather than learn it!

Sometimes it seems like the Atheists know the tenets of the belief system better than the religious do!

Well, I'm christian. One thing people seem to assume is that we are all intolerant and hate everyone with a different belief and way of life. This is not true, I, for one, am an exception.

I am an atheist and people often think that means I am a bad person who chooses evil things. What they don't understand is that I am a good person who just so happens to not beleive in any gods.

People seem to think Buddhism focuses on karma and reincarnation when in fact it focuses primarily on adherence to a set of moral precepts. Metaphysics are not of key importance to most Buddhists.
