Lately he's been hearing things and seeing things that aren't really there and he'd freak out.

Also he's been yelling and screaming at "God" and "spirits" all night or all day.

What does he have?

Sounds like he has schizophrenia.

There could be a couple of things going on. Here are a few:

1-Has he been playing the Ouija board? Or has he opened himself up somehow to the occult?

Those things are not games and everyone should stay away from them!!!

If he has, especially the Ouija board- tell him he has to get help from a priest. If they don't believe him he should continue until someone does help him. He needs to be blessed and his house also. (Sorry but it he doesn't get this help- he could get really hurt.)

2- Drugs-has he experimented with any. The neurological effects could be very damaging. He also needs to stop immediately and get professional help.

3-Depression- Is he going through life altering events. (If so he needs help by a professional.)

-I know this sounds creepy but if he is weak mentally, and is playing with the occult and experimenting with drugs he needs to stop immediately. Tell him to stop otherwise you will leave him! This will motivate him to get help. He sounds like he needs professional help, however he needs to push himself otherwise nothing good can happen.

This is just my advise based on my experience, however research what I’m saying but most importantly pray.
(I’m not a religious freak but I have dealt with this situation acouple of times with friends and co-workers. It’s always the same reasons.)

God bless-

PS- although psychiatrists are the norm for treating these cases, be careful because their first remedy will be drugs. Find out the underlining facts (mentioned above) and no drugs will be needed.

The sooner he sees a psychiatrist the better. Like any illness early treatment makes it easier to treat. His illness will only get worse. With proper mediation management, some people are highly functional. The actor who play Sonny on 'General Hospital" is schizophrenic. He is highly functional with proper medication.

Yes, I would say he's suffering from some sort of mental illness. Take him to a mental hospital so he can be committed. It's probably for his own good.

It could be Shizophrenia, but I'm no psychiatrist. He should be seeing one as soon as possible, before he becomes dangerous to himself or others. It's perfectly treatable with the right medications.

could be manic depression or a possible switch of medication. You need to let his family know what is going on and get him to a doctor before he becomes possibly volient
