if It would burn it up if I use the same relaxer that black people use ( I am white). I am trying to find a way to straighten my hair and some black women have the prettiest straightest hair I have ever seen.

I have very thick hair and using a regular straightner does not work. A flat iron works for a little while but I am looking for something that will keep it straight even after washing.

Get a hairdresser to do it...the thicker your hair. the less damaged it could become. But it's sort of like getting a perm...don't overdo it.

Im puerto rican and have very curly hair so i can relate. I once went to a hair place and got a relaxer for black people hair.My hair took 3 years to go back to its natural curlyness (after a while u miss it). It was dead and funny lookin for a while b-cuz the ends were dead and the roots were really curly. Don't get me wrong it looked nice, but remember there is a big differnce between our hair and their hair.. ours is curly..thats it! There hair needs treatment sometimes by weekly (my bestfriend is black). If you do it,ask them for a mild relaxer it will str8in ur hair just enuff. Its gonna smell like burn when you wash it bcuz thats what it does and if you do it don't scracth your scalp before you do it bcuz the treatment will BURN!
Im not tryin 2 scare you,,just use a mild relaxer or theres this treatment called "str8" look it up I think thats more what you should use. It gets curly hair just str8 enuff.
Hope I helped!

One option is to get it chemically straightened or relaxed. I have naturally curly hair also, but I stick to straightening it with a chi iron. One of my friends also has curly hair and she got it chemically straightened. It turned out awful! It didn't even work, it was $40, and you have to get it redone every 4 weeks. Plus, her hairline is receding from the chemicals. It completely ruined her hair, and now the only thing she can do with it is keep it in a ponytail, because nothing works anymore.

Um....if your worried about damaging your hair then I would say yes! Use straighteners or blowdry it straight. Go to the salon and ask them if they have any good ideas on how to straighten it. There are a lot of good products out there. I have naturally curly hair too and I use a spray on my hair to keep from drying it out then I use a straightener. Hope this helps...

Yes your hair will end up in the floor if you use that relaxer. Go to a salon and have your hair done with a Rusk or Paul Mitchell Relaxer.

Don't try doing this yourself first of all.
If your hair is fragile get to a professional.
I can't tell you how many times I have to send people home because it's too late for me to help them in their desperate attempt to save a few dollars.

Think before you do something to your hair!!
Good Luck

I have used hair relaxers for African Americans and they actually worked great on me. I highly suggest it. Look for those that have no Lye in them and contain olive oil.

You should consider the japanese straightening technique. You will have to get it profesionally done and it is expensive, but your hair will look fabulous!!! And it isn't supposed to damage it either...
