Can anyone please tell me what "seeders and leechers" are when downloading movies etc from Torrentportal???

Very simply, a seeder is uploading the file and a leacher is downloading it. The more seeders, the quicker the download in general.

A seeder keeps the file on their computer and continues to share it long after they've finished downloading it (or they were the original source). Leechers only download and don't share. If you're trying to download a file, you'll want to find one that has more seeders than leechers so it downloads faster.

Seeders are the people who have the 100% completed data and they are only uploading this data.
Leechers are the people who doesn't have completed data which they are downloading it to completion and in the same time they are uploading it to another leechers. In the time they have the completed data, they become seeders.

A seeder who has downloaded a full orrent using their peer to peer software, after downloading the keep the file active thus becoming a seed for anyone else who wants to download the file, they then become a leech, if you are on 10% of a file and there is someone else on 60% you can still download off of them even though they are no a seed

seeders are the people providing the data leechers are the people downloading. when you finished downloading it is good manners to leave the link active for a while to seed for other people.
