I am a US Navy Veteran, Vietnam Era, with a 40% disability rating due to depression, tinnitus, and hearing loss. I am unable to work and would like to increase the rating. Do you know of any great Veteran disability websites, or attorneys familiar with Veterans law that you would recommend?

First, you have to appeal their decision.

Also, you can contact your congressman or senator.

I think these two sites can help you.

Check the American Legion website:
http://www.legion.org/

Check the Disable Veterans Website:
http://www.dav.org/

Good Luck.

Do try the DAV, again even if you have before.

Tinnitus, and hearing loss: the VA "hates" these, but hearing is measured and on a rating chart by your test results, yes hearing loss gets worse, so a simple audiogram is indicated.

Tinnitis is "subjective" hard to rate, hardly even given a % for today's veterans.

"Depression" is well subject to change and a rating scale:
"unable to work" puts you in that group that should exceed 30% but you can also apply for "individual unemployability", that gets one a 100% rating.

The DAV should be able to assist, have such as civilian MD reports, etc to show your increased symptoms and not working via your Tax or W-2's.

Also if the DAV is not for you then try the other service organizations, "smile", avoid congressional help until the DAV or such suggests.

Gonna be slow, the VA is as we know rather underfunded and busy.

Good Luch

Do you have any other medical problems that are attributed to your military service? If not why should your disablity rating increase?
