Jamie: A Schnauzer and a Pit Bull do NOT have the same DNA. Just like you and I don't have the same DNA.

If you then saw an elephant and an elephant-dog, how would you know which was which?

No two life forms have the same DNA unless they are twins or clones. It's just that some DNA is more different than other DNA. If it gets different enough you can't interbreed.

Yes. They would still have dog DNA. A Schnauzer, a Great Dane, and a Pit Bull all have the same DNA, and so would your elephant dog.

If we bred tomatoes to look like apples, would we still call them tomatoes?

It's evolution, and doesn't take place in mere 80 years, if the dog-to-elephant image is sure to have happened.

yeah, it would still be a dog but it would just look like an elephant same as if you bred a human to look like a rabbit it would still be a human if was born from a shark.

Yes I probably would. You know how ppl breed dogs to be really tiny. Well, I want to breed domestic cats to be the size of big cats. Wouldn't that be cool?

You can't breed a dog, no matter how hard you try. That is why it is a rude slang term for doing unproductive work.

I'd be impressed if you got them that big.

They'd still be of the dog family though so yes they would still be called dogs.

I'd name that breed Ceberus. o-o
