You need to knuckle up and stop worrying. I have had anxiety for years and believe me, it never gets better until you kick it in the a s s. You have anxiety and depression and you should find a form of exercise that you like and do it five days out of the week. Your body is like a spoiled little kid it does what it wants and doesn't care what you think. So beat the kid. Work out until you sweat reeeeel good. And takes some vitamins, fool. This could be just a crying out of your body's cells for nutrition as well.

I have problems with depression and anxiety too. I take Fluoxetine and find it helps. I've been on it over a year. I still have bad times and don't see people very much, but I'm not as freaked out by trips to the supermarket. It takes a while to work. You have to give it a month or so.

I hope that you're getting psychological help too. I've been seeing a psychologist for a while now and she's really helped me to see where I can help myself. There is no quick fix to this. I find that I go up and down like a yo-yo. I even feel guilty about feeling fine on the good days!

At the moment it looks like you're "catastrophizing" a bit. That's not a criticism. It's just that when things go wrong you maybe look for reasons why it's all wrong and dig too deep. I do this too.

Anyway, I wouldn't want to mess with your head. One to one guidance with a psychologist may help. Hope it works out for you.

If your medication has stopped working for you go back to the doctor and tell him,he'll either adjust the dosage or try you on something else.Wanting to sleep all the time is a classic sign of depression...as for your thoughts about rats and spiders...your medication could be responsible don't be afraid to ask your doctor about this...or it could be just down to your general mental condition...ask your doctor if he will prescribe exercise along with more conventional medication, as sometimes this helps a lot,not only does exercise change the chemical balance in your brain for the better, but it also gets you out of the house and making new friends,as well as improving your physical condition....which will help when dealing with your depression...don't be afraid of going back to your doctor as many times as you need to...it's what they're there for...Good Luck ,I hope you feel better soon.

You are not alone you are not going mad or have some terrible disease! I am also in my 30's and this happened to me, everything you have said i have felt, jumbled head, feeling i got some terrible illness etc. You will get through this although its very tough and you have to help yourself alot such as when you dont want to go out or see people you must as the more you do things you dont want to the sooner you will realise nothing bad happens in these situations and the symptons are just your bodies way of telling you something isnt quite right in your life, this is really hard at the start i had brain scans and all sorts of tests to convince myself ther was nothing wrong with me, it was just people or situations i wasnt comfortable with! i could go on and on but just one step at a time, keep strong it wont ease overnight. Hope this helps, all the best.Joxx

I myself suffered from depression and attended a Counsellor for almost two years. It certainly helped. If at all possible keep yourself busy doing things. Above all dont sit about the house moping. Get out. Go cycling(if you ride a bicycle)or a quiet stroll through the local park, or any other thing that appeals to. you.
It may take some time but you will get better.

maybe a different dose is what you need OR if you don't do any, exercise. The endorphins that get released during exercise can go along way to helping restore the balance you need.

I was in the same place as you 3 years ago, its been a long road back but I'm here.

Good Luck!!

Everyone wants to cure everything with medication! The simple fact is that you need to kick yourself in the butt my dear. Get yourself going whether you feel like it or not! Gloom and doom thoughts simply perpetuate more gloom and doom! Right now...get off the computer, take a shower, dress like your ready for life, spring out the door and DO something!!!!! Find a new job, spark your curiosity on something. Buy a peice of old furniture and paint it, re-invent it, something. You have too much time to think about stuff that is of no good use to you. Go hiking, visit a local attraction, listen to uplifting and energizing music while you are in your car. You are quite simply in a funk and no medication is going to cure that. Only you. LOVE YOURSELF!

You probably don't have clinical depression (although I can't be sure). Just based on what you've said, your symptoms sound more like rapid cycling bipolar disorder.

That being said, I am not a physician, nor am I *your* physician. I reommend you see your doctor and tell him/her "my meds aren't working, can you please direct me to a good psychiatrist?"

Your doctor, if he/she has a decent bone in his/her body, will do just that. A psychiatrist can more accurately diagnose you and provide you with a treatment regimen that is more likely to work. It will probably include both medications and therapy.

It's good for you that you have friends. More than anything else, a good social support structure is what determines if a person can successfully live with mental illness. Best of luck to you.

Has something happened that triggered this off, or has it just crept over you? Either way you definitely need to speak to your doctor again and he may even refer you to someone who specializes in anxiety and depression. There are many people who are suffering the same as you, so don't think you're alone with this.

Good luck
