Years ago, when I was a teen, I was a runaway. I spent two years living in the streets, which we all know can be exceedingly dangerous. Still, I met some good people, and one of them showed up at just the right place and time.

I was in Mesquite, Texas, and a series of thunderstorms had kept me wet and cold for days. I desperately needed a shower and dry clothes, and the best place to do this is at a truckstop. I made my way over to the Union 76~I haven't a clue what it would be called now~did my laundry, got a shower, and decided to have something to eat while I was there.

There were signs prominently displayed on the walls saying no hitchhikers, backpacks, etc., but so far the people there hadn't paid me much attention. My luck soon changed, and a member of Mesquite's finest came by my table to tell me that I had 10 minutes to finish my meal, gather my things, and get myself out of there.

So that's what I did. A truck driver sitting at the table behind me heard the exchange and offered to let me use his radio to find a ride out of town. I had planned on staying in Mesquite for awhile but after this run-in with the law and knowing how some cops can be, I took the man up on his offer and went out to use his radio.

I no sooner asked if anyone was heading west when I heard a familiar voice ask if any ladies at the truckstop were interested in going to El Paso. I asked who the driver was, and as he identified himself, I noticed a truck I had ridden in many times going over the bridge. It belonged to an Apache gentleman that I had lived with for 6 months in Mesilla, New Mexico. Needless to say, he swung aroung, picked me up, and took me to his grandmother's house in Mesilla for week. He also bought me a plane ticket home to Pennsylvania. My days as a runaway were over.

Running into him like that, as big as this world is....that's a very strange coincidence indeed.

the strangest coincedences are those that have kept me safe and away from unpleasantness. One employment position I left encountered a disaster the following week, I saw this on TV when I was working hurdereds of miles away.
Another company I worked for gave me a transfer opportunity, the week I was elsewhere working another event occurred something I saw on the TV news. Gobsmacked, freaky stuff.

I was having trouble with my neighbours. They were always getting in late and playing music and shouting at 2 in the morning. (Great fun, but not when you have to get up for work the next day). Eventually, (after they tried to break into my house one night), I went to a solicitor to see what I could do about it. I explained the situation, to him and he looked at me funny. "What was the address again?" he said, I repeated the address, and he got up and checked his files. "I defended your neighbour in court 2 weeks ago" he said. "Don't worry I will have a word with him and explain that the last thing he needs at the moment, (he got a conditional discharge) is to be getting in trouble again. I had no further problems. What were the chances of me visiting the same solicitor? I live in a big town, there where hundreds to choose from.

I returned a phone call that I'd received from a person called Carol. When I rang back I got through to the husband, I asked if Carol was there and he said that she was out, he asked me what I wanted and I began to tell him. He said didn't know she was involved with this particular establishment I was phoning from(and his voice sounded as though his wife had kept it from him!). Anyway...some time down the line, I realised I rang the wrong number but it happened to be a Carol who lived there.

Back in 1979 I dreamed my family & I were traveling on a roadway familiar to me and our van for no reason left the roadway and just before impact I woke up.
Two days later my wifes uncle who was a deaf mute living in a rural area was driving to check his mail and the sun blinded his vision of a oncoming car and was killed instantly.
Coincidence maybe.

That would have to be the time that I was awoken from a very carnal dream, and my phone rang and it just HAPPENED that she was coming over to "get away from her apartment"

Imagine how awesome you would have felt if it happened to you.
