I was wondering if skip-it, that game where you ave this hoop you put on your ankle and then jump over the piece attached to it was a better exercise then jump roping. I am trying to find a good arobic exercise to lose weight.

I would think it would be just about as good as jump rope you are doing basically the same thing.

Yes. You want to do whatever will get your heart rate up. Skip-it is a great idea...it's good to try different things so you don't get bored and it keeps your body from getting used to one type of exercise.
