my boyfriend and I have booked to go out for a meal at an expensive restaurant on valentines night. we dont have the money for a hotel, and the taxi is going to be a lot too, so we are now thinking maybe we should cook a nice meal and eat in so we can both have a few glasses of wine. does staying in and cooking on valentines seem very unromantic? it is our first valentines together so we want it to be special.

It's way more fun to stay home and cook a nice meal, enjoy each others company and have some wine. Look, VD is the busiest restaurant day of the year. Very often places get so busy the service is lousy, the kitchen gets backed up and you may wait for your food for a very long time as a result. You're also just
another customer and since it's so busy you'll be not be treated with any special care by the servers. Stay home save the money, you'll be way happier on the 15th for doing so.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with staying in and preparing a nice home-cooked meal for Valentine's day. I get that you want to do something jazzy like going to an expensive restaurant, but you don't want to break yourselves in the process. If you want my opinion, staying in with a good hot home cooked meal is way more personable and romantic than going to some restaurant with a french name. LOL

On top of the home cooked meal, you get lots of flowers, a little wine and watch a good romantic movie to get you two nice and moist for each other and you two should have a very nice Valentine's Day just the same.

Its only as special as you make it! So what if you stay in! Fix that nice meal....add some paper hearts and candles. You don't have to pay a fortune for a meal that usually the next day is back to normal price. Just make a little extra effort with maybe some nice glasses for the wine or some flowers on the table (or sprinkle some of the little glittery confetti hearts on the table cloth). You could always rent a nice romantic movie or something. As long as there is something to make it different than any old night having a meal! *S*

Oh stay in believe me i never go to a restaurant on valentines night it does be packed they put extra tables into them and everything, its on a wednesday night so why not do it the saturday before or after?
personally i think staying in would be way better nice soft music set a nice romantic table nice candles all around and even order in instead of cooking perfecto then your at home for when you wanna kiss :--)

whilst that all sounds very romantic i think staying in would be just as nice an option!! Instead of cooking put that money you'll be saving towards a really nice take out - have the wine - you'll be able to lounge around together afterwards - light some candles in the living area - make it as romantic as you like - and the big bonus is - you can get naked in the comfort of your own home where and when you like!!

Can't afford to go out, so it's cook a meal, bottle of wine, some good music, and just enjoy our own company,my choice of one particular peice of the music to play is (chasing cars, Snow Patrol) what a track, the lyrics are so beautiful. To all you lovers out there hope your Valentines day is everything you hoped it would be,and more.

I think that sounds even better than going out. You don't need to spend lots of money to show each other that you care.
