Looking into buying the "SCC-S5 kit, 2500 mAh" for my Samsung Digital Camera. Does anyone know how long those batteries last once fully charged?

2500 mAh batteries are among the most powerful on the German market at the moment, and I have a sense that W. Europe leads No. America in the "green technology market," based on my last visit to a US "Best Buy" in April, 2006.

How long the batteries "last" will depend on your usage and your storage conditions. Like with classic batteries, keeping these batteries in cooler ambient conditions will extend the shelf-life.

You will find these batteries to be usable longer than Alkaline one-use batteries. In fact, my personal film camera will not accept rechargeable batteries above a certain power.

Making sure the batteries are completely discharged before recharging them (Some chargers will do this for you, some will not.) will enable you to enjoy more recharging cycles. In our office, we see that recharge-able batteries seem to have a 2-3 year lifespan. Your usage and recharging habits will affect the life of your batteries also.

Battery life, on any camera is based on a number of factors.

1) Battery Type: Lithium-Ions and Rechargeables (typically nickel metal hydrides or ni-cads such as yours) will almost certainly last longer than regular alkalines.

2) Shooting conditions: If you are shooting a lot of flash photography and using the zoom lens (which requires a motor to move the lens in and out) you will signficantly decrease the life of the charge. Outdoor and/or well lit shots will greatly increase battery life.

3) "Chimping" (more commonly known as using the LCD to review shots after you take them): If you "chimp" a lot and pass the camera around to your friends so they can see their picture, again you will eat into your battery life.

4) Temperature: Cold weather eats up batteries quickly. If you leave your camera in the car and it's freezing out your batteries will drain quickly. You can expect the same thing if you're out hiking or skiing in cold weather (if this is the case, keep your camera close to your body to keep it warm). Any temperature extreme will have an effect.

5) Movie Mode: Can your camera take movies with audio? If it does, again you will experience lower battery life. When taking video the camera is constanly writing the images to either a buffer file or directly to the memory card (including the audio portion), this all puts a good drain on the battery.

Under normal shooting conditions (some flash, some normal zooming, etc.) you should expect anywhere between 80-140 shots before you get low. Charge your battery overnight, avoid temperature extremes and use your flash sparingly and you can definitely increase their life.

immediately's digital cameras are incredibly severe-drain instruments. The batteries could means a colour liquid crystal demonstrate, a motorized zoom lens, an autofocus equipment, the multi-megapixel imager and the linked processing hardware. the respond is easy ... use severe means NiMH rechargeable batteries. over the final couple of years we've seen bigger means NiMH batteries hit the marketplace, incredibly in the favored AA length that's what a super form of the digicams use. the 1st cells have been in basic terms 800-900mAh means yet we've a super determination of cells beginning from 1500 to 2700mAh. As expected, the better the means - the longer the run time.

I haven't used that particular brand of batteries, but I have always used rechargable batteries in my digital camera. They last a lot longer than regular batteries. If you are using the camera heavily each day, I would suggest recharging them at night. Then they are ready in the morning. When I travel, I have 2 sets of batteries so that I always have a set ready for each day.
