Well, it depends on what kinda lifestyle u want. If u want a mellow, quiet neighborhood, go to Staten Island. If u want a faster paced lifestyle, then move to Manhattan. It also depends on how much u willing to spend.

Wow, thats a tough one to answer. Do you mean What hotels are best, or do you mean what part of New York state is best to visit?
If you are reffering to NYC, I would stay somewhere near Central park in Midtown since you will be near all the action.

The Sherry Netherland, my fav, Four Seasons Central Park, The St. Regis, The Peninsula and the Palace are all incredible, and expensive.

I am From NYC...Are you on a budget? Some of the Ian Schrager hotels have some good deals, They are "hip" fun hotels but w/ tiny rooms. Try the Paramonount in the theater district

The New Yorker nr Madison Square is a nice hotel in a great location - fantastic 24hr diner downstairs too
