Some day, we will probably have the technology to put chemicals together and create new custom-designed life. Let's say we were able to create intelligent life. Would we then by virtue of being it's creator be justified to kill it, expect worship from it, and tell it what it can do and what it can't do.

Sho-Nuff: True, but what if we could create life with human-level intelligence?

My point is: If we can't do it, they why can God do it?

Absolutely not.

In fact, if we could create a machine with self-awareness and consciousness, it would be morally equivalent to murder to power it down without the agreement of the consciousness inside. You wouldn't have to improve its capabilities, but you could not remove them either.

Oi, God does not kill whenever He wants.

It happens when humans go out of their bounds and start becoming destructive. Enter Sodom and Gomorra.

Alternatively, you can go to some parts of the world and theyll tell you they can do whatever they want with their kids.

Humans, in their nature, give all the credit to themselves.

And would therefore ask a WHOLE LOT more than what you listed in the unfornutate event that they create life.

I say unfortunate, because I know what the human ego is capable of doing. And its not a pretty sight.

Hopefully such a thing will never happen.

You might think I didnt answer your question. But look again.

'if what youve created has turned against you and its own kind and started becoming destructive, then yes, the destruction of such a being is mandatory'

IF god gave us intelligence and a mind that creates, then why are there limits? Why do those with such a strong connection to god avoid creations that help mankind live and succeed... like electricity.
Where I live there are a LOT of Amish... no electricity, no motored farm equipment. Why not use it and save your body from the work.
Avoiding medical issues such as syndromes, cancers, deformities... things of that nature is worth looking into.
But, I am not sure I agree with creating custom designed life: making something more intelligent than the average bear...
I would be afraid of being exterminated.

I am ambivalent about this example. But let me answer

If you created a life, your child let us say, who is in fact, as you put it - a mixture of chemcials', who is 'custom designed' by you and your wife/husband/person you met randomly. You are not allowed to kill the child, evn though it is your creation.

Similarly, even if you create a life outside a womb, that is designed by your choices, that is just a mixture of chemicals - it is still a life at the end of it, just created in a different way.

But i have totally avoided the ethical and philosophical implications of you designing a life - but that would take pages that i do not have

Try murdering your own child and see what happens.

Fundamentally, I agree with your point. The god of monotheism lives by very different standards than we do. Lower standards in my humble opinion.

If you did, indeed, create "intelligent life" it certainly wouldn't be human. But kill it quickly coz it's smarter than us.

. If you read your bible, there is plenty of precedent to allow you to kill or have killed anything you created, and even order your creations to kill on your behalf.

I don't see any point to all the killing, but it must give big g a chubby, because he does enough of it
