If there is a spot where they eat and you can ensure that nothing else will get at the food, a little d-con in the corn will do the trick. Else you can soak shelled corn in whiskey and if they stay there for a little while you will be able to pick them up or whack them over the head and dispose of....

unfortunately pigeons are like the cockroaches of the sky, kill one and 10 take its place. the best bet is a deterent if your not gonna try to kill em, get a dog, a cat or something that will chase them every time they come near your house. they will eventually stay away from your house out of a survuval instinct. otherwise youll need to call an exterminator, they have ways of deterring the pesky things.
but i would suggest putting out some bait and sit hidden and quiet with a good air rifle and start whacking em. not only does it help with your problem but it will relieve alot of stress at the same time.

Shooting is fun and a great stress reliever. It's either that or find a big old barn cat. Poisoned birds could be eaten by a dog or cat, thus killing them, too.
A good BB/pellet rifle can do it and not hurt your roof or a neighbor.

I know this doesn't answer your question the way you wanted, but I would use this as the perfect excuse to purchase a high-end scoped air-rifle. I personally would have a blast sitting in a lawn chair with a six pack, looking for the perfect head shot. Assuming you live someplace where lobbing pellets at a high arc would be safe.

Pigeons (AKA - Rats with wings) are horrible, messy animals. I've tried placing boards with nails poking through in their nesting areas to no avail.
Next, I heard that they hate the smell of WD-40. So, I sprayed the area with the stuff. It only kept them away until it evaporated.
Looking forward to answers.

Teddy W is right, just make sure it is "uncooked" rice. After they eat it then drink water it expands. In some places this is against the law though. Some states have even banded throwing rice at weddings because of this!!

I have tried many methods and the best, or at least the only method that is fail proof, is water. A high pressure noozle on your garden hose usually gives me 2 year periods without the damn birds. Bird on your roof spray it with water, then check your roof 6 or 8 times day one. I have never had to spray a bird more than 3 times before it learns the neighbors roof is safer. If it's a female who has eggs in a nest you'll need to spray her 4 times a day for about 3 days then she will abandon that nest.A couple times a year one might land on your roof, spray it. They don't like being wet and your neighbors roofs will be dry. I usually go 2 yrs before I have to spend 2-3 days teaching a few new birds.

when I was a kid, the town I lived in had a pigeon problem, and they poisoned them. I'm not sure what they used, but whatever it was, ,they put it on corn. I know this because my brother dissected one, and it was full of corn.

http://www.unitedwildlife.com/AnimalsPigeons.html this site might give you some good info.
Also you may try to find some one local that wants to come trap them to use for training. As in dog training or practice for hunting season ;) some people actually do this.
Good luck
