Mistakes are for people! Of course I would! But,I am so close to everyone within my family, so I believe that nothing like this would happen to me!

If a family member stole from you, you cant say it as stealing, it is just taking something without asking when needed. Reason is if asked, you may not give it. So you can always forgive them with and make them promise not to take without telling.

The answer for that is in you.Everyone is different. My cousin stole some paintings from me and after time I was able to understand and forgive. However we did not and do not have a relationship. He has never apologized to me and forgiving does not mean forgetting. So, forgiving takes time.If a stranger stole from you , how would you handle it? Simply because they are a family member does not mean they have special rights.I am not religious, but pray for them. This will help you to forgive.

Depends on what they stole...if they stole a cup of sugar then sure, I'd forgive them. If they stole my crystal vase, then it will take a LONG time for me to even THINK of forgiving them

You can absolutely forgive them. It is the right thing to do. However, I would also keep very close watch on my things or money or whatever during visits from this person.

It also doesn't hurt to hold the person accountable for their actions. Tell the person how you feel about what he/she did and how you plan to handle it should it ever happen again.

I had that happened to me and for a long time I did not forgive them, but then again people make wrong choices and they deserve to be forgiven. I will give them a second chance, but be very cautious when they are at your house.

Matthew 6:14-15 (Amplified Bible)

14For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

I absolutly would! But that doesn't mean I would have to trust them. Forgiviness means that you don't ever think about the situatuation again or bring it up to them.
Be Blessed and Rejoice in the Lord!

My family accused my husband of theft and called him and me horrible names, cut me out of their will, and refuse to talk to us. Even though they are family it is hard to forgive. I guess you just have to decide if you want to hold it against them forever or if you want to be loving and magnanimous and forgive them. Because this will cause a rift, I guess the ultimate question is can you live without them?
