Privacy is a great big help. If you have your own room, shut the door. If you play music, make it just instrumental, so you don't start singing along with the music. Discourage people from distracting you with questions or other messages unless it's really, really important and can't wait.

Forget the idea that you can do multitasking. Computers have no problems, but trying to concentrate on two things at once simply does not work well for humans. One thing which is nearly automatic together with one that requires real attention will sometimes work, however. I know some people have gotten very good results propping a book up on the handlebars of a stationary bicycle, for example. One Quaker friend of mine had quite a wardrobe of knitted garments as a result of all the meetings. I have even gotten to the point where I can do English paper piecing (hand quilting work) and talk philosophy at the same time.

In general, you should avoid spending too much time on breaks, but you should take those breaks away from the desk altogether. If you allow yourself to "break your concentration" at your desk whenever you get tired, you will rarely achieve the necessary concentration.

Prioritize. If you are going to concentrate on one thing at a time, you cannot waste energy doubting whether this is what you should be concentrating on at this time. Get in the habit of asking yourself "What's the best use of my time right now?" every time you complete a task. Or every time you come to a good stopping place in a long task.

With school work specifically, you need to get real goal-oriented. What is it I am trying to get out of this class? Preparation for a higher level course, of which this is the prerequisite? A basic understanding of a topic that is not going to be of critical importance in your life, but which needs to be integrated into the rest of what you know? A grade of B+? The possible basis for a lifelong love of the topic?

Once you know what you are trying to get out of each class, you have a handle on what you are trying to get out of the particular study session. Later in life, when you need to concentrate on something for work, use the same approach: prioritize according to your own goals, and frequently ask, "What's the best use of my time right now?"

I went through a phase where, because I was listening to my iPod so much, I wasn't able to concentrate on my homework as there was always a song playing in the back of my mind...made my life hell for a few weeks until I recognized the impetus for my distraction - I became solution-oriented and stopped listening to so much music on weekdays. Depending on exactly WHAT you need to be concentrating on (reading, doing some activity, etc.) will depend on what you need to do to become more concentrated. If it's reading, then actually concentrate on the sound of the words, don't just skim. If it's an activity, centralize yourself by turning off the computer (if it's not needed), turn off music, tvs, radios, etc...maybe even turning off lights in other rooms will help you keep your mind where you want it to and not feel like it wants or needs to be somewhere else.

If you are ADD/ADHD (Like I am) Medication is the best answer, otherwise it's just a matter of focusing hard enough as not to allow the outside stuff from getting in. Additionally, you might take yourself and your project to a different location with limited distractions.

properly, i'm undecided what your challenge is - attempt examining at different cases in the process the day, in the morning, once you get living house, in the past you pass to mattress - just to work out if it makes a distinction. attempt examining the place it incredibly is thoroughly silent, with a lifeless noise (like the radio grew to become on, i come across a super thank you to ward off distractions from random noises to hearken to radio in a different language - you are able to not comprehend something and it incredibly is in basic terms a lifeless noise in the historic past). My actual advice is, despite if, to objective an audiobook. some are incredibly super and can be even better than the "regularly occurring" version. My renowned is Harry Potter examine by Stephen Fry - he does it wonderfully. desire you artwork issues out!

In GITA ( chapter 6 ) Arjun asks similar question. Answer given by Krishn is really practical, useful as well as applicable. If you are really interested make use of this suggestion.

I don't think BHAGAVATGITA is a religious book. It is very logical and so scientific.

Earplugs help; a good pharmacy should have them, but some may be more comfortable than others.
