Well, the USA developed:

Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP) or Higgins boat was started in 1940. The idea was borrowed from Japan who'd been using ramp-bow vessels since 1937.

Landing Ship Tank (LST 2) went into production in 1942 following the lessons of the Brits at Dunkirk who were forced to abandon a great deal of vehicles and material on the French coast during their evacution.

The Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT) or Amtrac was developed in 1937 for civilian use in rough areas. The USMC adopted them for use in amphibious assault and got the government to put them into production.

Great Britain and Germany modified tanks for river crossings or the short trip from boat to beach. Great Britain used US designed vessels during D-day.

Germany could never complete "Operation Sea Lion" (invasion of England) because they didn't have the ships
