do you think that's a good idea?

Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each other's face
So much in love you're alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one she told me so
And she still means the world to me just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way

I loved her first
I held her first
And a place in my heart
Will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it's still hard to give her away
I loved her first

How could that beautiful woman with you
Be the same freckle faced kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw her with you
It was only a matter of time

When a miracle smiles up at you

First time I ever heard that song, I cried. I love it. I told my father that was going to be the song I danced with him. He listened, he cried. (And he NEVER cries)

It's beautiful, and if your father agrees, it would be so sweet. Because it is more of a song from father to son-in-law more than father/daughter.

But I like the idea of pre-recording it, just in case. I heard it for the first time in August/September, and I still cry EVERY time I hear it. (It's done by a group called Heartland, in case you wanted to know)

I think it's a sweet idea, especially if your father sings anyway. I never would have asked my dad to do it (ouch - my ears), but that will be a very special time for the two of you. Maybe you could dance with your dad right before he sings this song for you two.

Don't have him sing it, play it during the father/daughter dance. It's a beautiful song but people may get too teary-eyed.

I don't think my Dad would be able to do it without crying. I am using My Girl by the Temptations for our father/daughter dance because it upbeat and short.

My wife and I did a song for our oldest daughter's wedding. However, we knew that neither of us would be able to make it through the song. So we pre-recorded it, and played it for the "Father's Dance" with my daughter. (It was smart move to have it recorded).

Yeah of course. I heard it once and I think it would be great for your father to sing it to you at your wedding. I mean if you really listen to the lyrics it's about a father and how he was his daugthers first love. I think it's perfect for a father to sing to his daugther at her wedding.

see if you can get him do to a recording of it and use it for the father/daughter dance. He's not going to be able to get thru that song on your wedding day....

:)
