Kind off.
Depending on the operating system you need hard drive for swap files.
In windows 98 about 250MB, in XP a full gig free is really needed.
If you have more programs that start up on boot, then that really slow things down.
There is also a bit of a slow down but not drastically when hard drive is fuller just because the hard drive has to find the files before loading.
Also defrag takes longer to run.

howdy.
no your computer wont slow down do to any amount of info on hd.
it used to be the case many years ago when just starting out.
but not thesedays.
slow is do to
1)lack of available memmory (ram)
2)to many programs running at same time
i recommend you limit the # of programs/processes running from boot up. if your already running you can right click and exit from the s-tray by the clock.
also after you do that. you can right click on the taskbar
and open Task manager in that you will find what's running
if blank, look at the procces tab and lok at what's running under your name most common is *owner* look at those under your name in use and eliminate some programs, that will free up your memmory and your pc will run faster.

also do a disk cleanup and defrag regularly .

hope that helps

It depends. If your hard drive is properly defragmented, it shouldn't matter. It's the programs that are open that slow down your computer.
However, if you haven't defragged your hard drive, an excess of computer programs can create a longer wait time for loading of programs.
=] Hope that helped
