A child's first appointment with an orthodontist should be around age 7. Most children have other dental problems that have to be corrected first, such as small arches and incorrect bites. Waiting until all the adult teeth are in is incorrect information. You'll want to get all of her dental problems taken care of before she finishes high school. Schedule a consultation appointment with an orthodontist. My daughter had a small arch and a cross-bite. Her orthodontic treatment took almost 5 years and cost $4,800. It was worth the time and money. Good luck.

Your family dentist can advise you on when it is time to start exploring braces. I agree with the other 2 answers - the 1st 2 teeth will straighten out as she loses more teeth, because there will be more room at that time.
When my son turned 8, the dentist did a panoramic xray of his whole mouth which showed his current teeth as well as the positioning of the remaining teeth that had not come in. (They usually do it around 8 yrs because that is when most of the adult teeth are in or formed in the gumline.) He referred us to an orthodontist at that time because it appeared that his mouth was too small for the rest of his teeth. The orthodontist agreed and we will probably begin treatment before my son turns 9.

She will have to loose all her baby teeth first and also have her twelve-year molars present. My orthodontist said she had a nine year old patient that met both criteria, but that it is pretty rare for someone that young. My daughter is 10 and is still losing her baby teeth but she does have her twelve-year molars. Everybody is different. The best thing to do is to see an orthodontist for a consultation. I know that mine will start seeing patients as young as seven. That way they may be able to suggest early intervention treatment that may lessen the total treatment time/cost.

it is hard to tell now if she will need braces since she is so young. my son is 8 and after his baby teeth (which he is still losing some) his teeth grew back with huge spaces between them. i had asked his dentist if he will need braces when he is older and he told me you have to wait until all baby teeth fall out, and then after the new teeth grow in you still have to wait awhile because sometimes even though some teeth grow in crooked they may straighten out on their own. if they don't then braces are an option. but he said i have to wait until he is a teenager like between the ages 14-16, that's usually when they get braces. so your daughters teeth may just straighten out on their own since she is still losing them.

You need all of your adult teeth in to get braces, which cost anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 based on the circumstances (crookedness, etc). She may be able to get by with a removeable bionator or retainer which is much cheaper. Consult an orthodontist.

Consult with an orthodontist and they can tell you. They may need the dental records from your regular dentist as well

The age to get braces is for your daughter to get older. She has to be at least 13yrs old to get the braces.
