Most do, some don't. It depends on the strength of the animals immune system, whether they come across the disease in the 'wild', whether they have any other illnesses or treatments which affect the immune system, and the disease you are vaccinating against.
Leptospirosis and parvo virus - both common and fatal. Unlikely that immunity will last more than 12-18 months, so MUST be vaccinated annually.
Other diseases in the normal vaccines - probably may get immunity for 18-36 months. Unfortunately, the only way of telling is to do a yearly blood test which is more expensive than vaccination!!
Rabies - 2-3 years. If going abroad this is regulated so you have no choice but to follow guidelines.
Don't forget, you pet is also getting a health check for free with the vaccination, so on balance, stick with vaccinations every 12 - 18 months.

Booster injections are a money spinner for vets who "remind" you that your dog's shots are due. On average, a booster shot every 2-3 years should be more than enough. When asked, most honest vets will testify to this fact. Why dose your pet with chemicals it doesnt need? Its also the same with the popular flea and tick control products. I have found that half the dose is more than enough.

I have also found a well priced australian heartworm prevention called Nuheart available from www.nuheart.com My two dogs are on them.

The theories I have mentioned have been proven on my 2 17 year old dogs.

Hello, i own 5 dogs and not one of these dogs has a booster every year...none of my dogs has ever been ill and i think these yearly boosters are just a way for the vets to make more money.

No, this is myth and a cash grab for vets who don't care. Rabies only needs to be given every three years, and other boosters every 2 years. Overvaccination of dogs today are causing many health problems in dogs. Simlpy look for a vert that uses these values, because there are many of them out there.

Not all boosters are needed yearly. Many vets are switching to 3 year boosters for all vaccinations.

If you ask your vet he will say yes, but the truth is no he doesnt it is a complete waste of time and money, I have always had dogs and never have they had the yearly injection and every one of them have died of old age!

I actually researched this recently and everything came back as its not neccessary.

You'll have to ask your vet what vaccines s/he used last time. There are some vaccines only good for one year while others are good for 3 years. If they are yearly, then yes. Always follow up with vaccines as recommended to ensure the health of your dog.
