I weight between 139-149 and I'm 5'3. I have an hour glass figure and I have a very slim torso but my gym teacher says that I need to be between 110-130.

You are fine with what you weigh now. Your gym teacher is going by the chart they use and it doesn't fit everyone. Besides, men like women that are a little thicker now days. SO, i think your weight is fine and alot of men don't want a real skinny girl anyway. As long as you feel good about your weight don't worry about it.

It's best to have your body fat percentage tested. I take it from your avatar that you are a black female and it is a fact that black women tend to have a higher lean body mass than white women, ie heavier bones and more muscle.

BMI is actually based on the average white women/man. For example, if you and a white woman both had a BMI of 20, you'd probably have a lower body fat percentage than her. So even though you may technically be a a little overweight as far as BMI concerned, your body fat percentage may show you are actually fine as you are.

no you will be underweight. for 5'3" you have to be between 130 to 140lbs. he probably does know about body mass index. you're just slightly overweight but its nothing you can accomplish, first attan your healthy weight and then focus on your supermodel weight and shape (dats wat your gym intructor is suggesting). take it from a nutritionalist. the main point is to be healthy. men also don't want skinny, anorexic girls who fall apart in the bed, they are looking for the meat too grab and play.

That depends on your age. Personally it sounds heavy for your height but you need to have your body fat checked. If you are very athletic and have a larger muscle mass you might be ok. If you are young though you better trim down while you are young as it gets harder as you get older.

Everyone is built differently so I am sure your just fine. You know more about yourself than your gym teacher does.
