I'm going to respond to mainworry in an attempt to get others to realize how fallacious his arguments are.
"The proof and evidence is all around you and everywhere, undeniable proof, and indisputable visible evidence. It is called creation and life. Unless your are blind, deaf, and senseless. You can see, smell, taste, hear, feel, and examine the evidence."
This is Begging the Question... assuming exactly what you wish to prove. The assumption is that the proof is "creation"... in order to have a creation, there needs to be a "Creator", which is what mainworry is attempting to offer proof of. It's circular reasoning.
"We live on a planet teeming with life. Plant life with approximately 250,000 species, animal life with over a million species. Scientists are learning just how complex life is. So complex that it requires design. The evidence of design requires a designer. Scientists are also learning the conditions for life; just how perfect conditions here on planet Earth are to support all this life."
This doesn't prove a god. Just because we perceive complexity and natural law does not mean a god exists. Occam's Razor eliminates the need for the unnecessary plurality of a god. Again, this is assuming what he wishes to prove.
"The human brain, it absorbs forty megabytes per second of data while awake. That is two terabytes of data a day. At night, it sorts and stores that data through the creation of new chemical bonds and synaptic connectors."
This doesn't prove a god, either.
"Sure, right, this all just happened and evolved. This sort of thinking takes considerable faith, exponentially more faith than believing in a creator."
We see this statement all the time from Christians. It's incredibly ironic... they'll say this, and then when we ask them for evidence of their god and back them into a corner, they say that you need to have faith.
There's no faith involved in empirical data and fact.
If people think God is real because of the arguments presented by mainworry (which is usually the case around these parts), they seriously need to re-evaluate their thought processes.

You are right we do not need religion. We need relationship with our Heavenly Father. How can you help your fellow man? By giving him things like your time and necessities? These things are good but make sure they are rooted in love otherwise they mean nothing. Church consists of people. It is not a place. People gather to encourage and support one another...important things needed to help us meet the needs of others throughout our daily living. I hope you have strength enough accomplish this on your own...on the other hand it is not you who does anything but our God's love which breaks the yolk of bondage. I hope you are not waisting your time.

Because the One True God is real. Without His Divine Reality, mankind may worship all kinds of imaginary gods and cannot reach the present stage of global unity. The methods for building the world civilization are revealed fully in the Holy Books of the Mesengers of God.

There is a big difference between 'religion' and a personal relationship with God Almighty. There is no better use of my time than to be in the presence of God, to learn and grow through Him.

Here is a question for you - Why don't people think God is real?
Could you possibly answer that for the millions of atheists that reflect all of their thoughts and opinions as being the same?

There are two issues here. One is that of religion and the other of the existence of God. I understand your venting about religion. As far as the other issue is concerned you have simply formed an opinion. Unless it is tested it remains just that. Some people experience God in their lives and He is real to them. Not knowing Him can surely lead to forming an opinion like yours. So my advice is to reach out and see for yourself.

I respect your choice and ask you to respect my choice which is to continue to serve God.
I have faced difficulties as a Christian, had a lot of bad times, sinned some along the way but ALWAYS I came back to forgiveness and live for Jesus daily.

I don't think it's wrong to believe in God. It's when you start saying that one God is better than another that you start getting into trouble. Still, to make this life better we need to be active and not just sitting around praying.

Some people need a crutch to get them through life, for others its a comfort. I would imagine many have been indoctrinated into it since early childhood.
