I would think that a platic bag would be good enough as long as nothing can get in...like dust...it can discolor the white to make it look dirty...if you can't hang it then try to find a large enough box to neatly fold it up in to put up then take it to a shop to have it steamed about a week before the wedding..they'll press and steam it and have it ready to pick up the day before the wedding...will the shop you bought it from do that for free? You may want to check...Just make sure it is put up and completely protected...and seriously I know what you are going through with wanting to try it on..but for the next year if you keep doing that then you run the risk of staining it with make up...body oils...even some hair products can ruin certain fabrics...

Although i was married long ago,i too bought the dress earlier then i needed to, to kept it white i went to the fruit market and collected all the CLEAN blue paper wraps and very carefully sewn all the squares together, making a bag to put over the dress. Does this sounnd daft to you? the blue in the wrapperings kept the white very white, and because the paper was like tissu; paper it could not be taken on and off more than once, my dad put it in the wardrobe and locked the door.

Buy a dress bag. That usually keeps your dress in really good condition for at least 2 years. Keep it hanging up as well. A few weeks before your wedding you need to take it to a bridal shop or cleaners to have it pressed.

Sounds like your doing a good job. Just depending on your color dress, make sure its wrapped in a white sheet, to prevent colors from the sheet from rubbing off on the dress... good luck and congrats!

what happens if you put on weight before the wedding? You will have to have lots of alerations done to the dress.

Ask @ the shop where you bought the dress and they can give you a dress bag which will protect it until your wedding next March.......

you can buy bags specifically for preserving your wedding dress after your big day, so maybe it would be smart to get one now.
this site is more for after the wedding but the same rules apply to preservation before the wedding

you need to get some acid free tissue paper, as this will stop it from going yellow-you can get this from certain dry cleaners-i got my dress cleaned and boxed in an acid free box (its huge!) with acid free tissue in between the layers. why not purchase the box now, then you can store it til your wedding, and also have a box to store it in afterwards, with the benefit of it not turning yellow!

Keep it on a hanger in a closet so it doesn't get wrinkled. Tell your parents to put a lock on the closet doors so you can't have access to it.
