Contrary to the first answer i looked up amoxicillin when i was prescribed them by my dentist and found, to my delight, that it is safe to drink in moderation whilst taking them.However that then poses the question what is drinking in moderation?

The combo of alcohol and amoxicillin will not make you sick or cause any reations. It will however reduce the effectiveness of your antibiotic or any antibiotic for that matter. It would be best to lay off the sauce until you have completed your antibiotics. It will be better for you in the long run.

It used to make me very ill if I had a drink with amoxicillin, I would not recommend it, somebody do not feel ill on antibiotics but it does diminish the effects off the antibiotic.

it is nonsense to say you can't drink alcohol whilst on a course of antibiotics, I don't know who started this but it has been going the rounds since the 60's.

Don't drink alcohol while taking antibiotics, it will only reduce the effectiveness of the drug or stop it working altogether.

Its not safe. It could aggrevate whatever youre trying to c=heal with it and can have bad side effects. Read the leaflet that is in the box.

You shouldn't drink ANY alcohol with ANY antibiotics - full stop!

I don't think its safe, once when my doctor prescribed them for me she told me not to drink until i finished the course. i didnt listen typically and i felt woozy and nauseous after just one beer, so i stopped. it might even be worse depending on the individual.

No. You need to drink water. It works better. Alcohol dehydrates you.

You can do, but the tablets will not be as effective, so it's not a good idea.
