I want to get the Gastric Bypass surgey, but there is no way I can afford it and I don't have insurance at this moment, but I will soon. I am so desperate I will do something on T.V. And YES I've tried dieting and exercising and that hasn't helpd me lose the weight. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you very much. :)

Seriously, I'd recommend you first isolate the reason why you're unable to lose weight via diet and exercise. Find out if there's some aggravating cause, like thyroid activity, hormonal imbalances, etc, etc. Go see your doctor and get some blood work done. If you can at least isolate the cause, then you can attack it from that angle. If you are still interested in the gastric procedure and you have no insurance or money then you're really up against a brick wall. Another thing you need to consider is that most reputable doctors will not perform a gastric surgery unless you are a minimum of 100 pounds overweight for your height and age. Are you at that level?.

wow you have an eating disorder, i'm sorry. i am 5'6 27 y/o and 140. you must think i am huge. if i could not loose weight with eating healthy and working out, than yes i would. but it would be my last chance. people can loose weight they just choose not too and if weight loss surgery were free, everyone would be as skinny as you and it would be quite frightening. i'm sorry. hope you get well soon.

Call the offices that perform such proceedures and ask what they have in the way of charitable offerings. Can you work it off in the office in advance? Can you put it on payment plan?

Talk to lots of clinics.

I had a girl friend who wanted a different optional proceedure. She called around until she found a very high profile surgeon who had an understudy, the understudy did the proceedure for less than 1/2 price. The big wig Dr. was attending.
She was happy in the long run.

Best of luck,

Hate to say this, but you will be placed on a diet before they will consider the surgery. Any reputable surgeon will have you eat the Post-Gastric Bypass diet before doing the surgery so that you will see what you are in for. It is a HUGE commitment, and you are best going into it with eyes wide open.

Otherwise, check with your local medical college - sometimes they have trials, but often you can only get into one with a referral from your doctor.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
