I am trying so hard to overcome my overeating patterns and to lose 30 pounds or so. I just have no will power when it comes to chocolate and snack-type foods. Any tips on how to cointinue to live around food without overdoing it?

Don't buy them.

If you do buy them, then buy them in individually wrapped containers, take one, then leave the room. Have a glass of water with it. If you can't buy them individually wrapped, then get place 1 serving of each in a Ziploc bag when you open the container.

The other thing (what I do)... keep a food journal. If you know you can afford the calories of a 1/2 cup of ice cream, then you won't feel guilty about eating them in moderation. The point of dieting is to learn how to incorporate your favorite foods into your daily life. If you ban something completely, then when you go "off" the diet, you risk relapsing into the old habits that had you gain the weight in the first place.

But, if you track everything you eat, and know you can afford a cup of Ghiradelli hot cocoa, then you won't feel guilty about it. Read the food labels, and exercise some self control when it comes to portion size.

Good luck!

The way I did it was to never buy a chocolate thing that could not be eaten by the family in one sitting. If you live alone thats a cupcake. You can not eat 4 of them if you dont have them. As far as snack foods buy an amount you and your family will use in one sitting. Snacks sitting around are snacks that you eat so dont have them out on counters. Buy healthy food to use as snacks when possible.

Replace your chocolate and snacks type foods with healthier choices like celery sticks, fruits, etc. Cut down slowly. So this may mean that in the beginning, you may still allow yourself the occassional treat.

Weight is actually toxins. In order to lose weight, you will need to get rid of toxins. Try a detox cleansing diet for results.
