My Cat would turn around a chase him! She is quite large and she likes to play with small dogs, The little Yorkie down the hall won't run from her nor will she chase the cat. The Poodle across the hall will only bark and that annoys my cat. I had a Jack Russell many years ago. He liked to chase cats also. Butch the Jack Russell started to chase a cat up the tree and the was in the tree when he got this look on his little face that said Uh Oh dogs can't climb trees, and he fell. The last time her tried to chase the cat he got her cornered on our porch she smacked him a good one and gave him a bloody nose and Butch never chased that cat or any other cat again.

My cat thinks he is a dog, he would attack your Jack Russell without thinking about it. He would not run, he would stand and fight and believe me I know through experience who would come off worse. After all how many cats do you know of that will clean a T bone steak and growl if you try and take it away, even my dog runs when he comes in and he is a LARGE German Shepherd.

weren't jacks originally bred to hunt small animals? i like jacks (even thoough i prefer the big dogs) because of their spirit and pluckiness. as for my cats, they were raised with dogs that weigh over 100 lbs (3 at present), and i've seen my 13 yr old cat in action. if she were to be scared at all (thats why she's not allowed out) she would run for protection from the big dogs. i got her at 1 week and the last time she was out at 8 months of age, my neighbors dog almost had her before she figured she better run. and she ran through an acre of apple trees to get to my border/golden x. right under his belly and into his dog house. timber almost killed dusty. thats what my cat does.

personally my cat would eat him, but the trick is to distract him, put him on a lead and when he sees a cat squeek a squeeky toy and play with him( keep him moving) when the cat has gone praise him and walk on. dont let him off the lead untill you have nipped this in the bud, if you dog does injure a cat him could be destroyed under the dangerous dogs act. and neither of us wants that, try it it works

He probably IS tough but cats have a way of sorting it out. My cat, the tuff one would turn and swat your JRT on the nose to show the pecking order. JRT's have good memories but then so do cats.

you need an evil wild cat about your house for a few days, one that will stand its ground and give your dog a good thump on the nose if it came near it. Thats the best way to learn him
