You are allowed to check a golf bag and clubs.
You must make sure that the bag is fully enclosed. You can buy an outer travel bag and put your golf bag inside. If your golfbag came with a rain cover or storage cover, you may be able to use that. Mine has a cover that snaps on over the club heads. I add a long twist-tie from the cover to the bag so the cover will not un-snap during handling. You must detach the shoulder strap. I stow it in one of the zippered pockets when I get to the front of the check-in line.
At check-in, you may need to declare the bag as oversized. This is not universal. It depends on the airline. When I use the check-in computer at United, I have to select the number of bags and oversized bags to check. When I simply selected "2" (the first time) the agent had to redo my tags.
I've flown Alaska Air with golf clubs also. They didn't ask me to specify oversized bags.
When you pick up your bags at your destination, look for an oversized luggage pickup area. This depends a lot on the airport facility. I have always found golf bags and skis being delivered at a different location, near to the baggage carousel for the flight I was on.
I've never been charged overweight or excess baggage for my golf bag. I've not flown any of the discount carriers. But I don't imagine that you will incur any surcharges on a full-service airline.

You can pack them in a golf club bag and stow it away under the plane as luggage. Becareful though, many airlines will charge you an additional cost for bags over certain weights. Check with your individual airline for sure. Also if you dont have a club bag, and you just wanted to bring one or two clubs, you could find some of the long cardboard tubes and use those. Hope that helps.

Of course you can! Just pack them in your travel golf bag (On sale for $50 at wal-mart) put your shoes, and accessories as well in there. Low carrier airlines might charge $30 to $90 as excess luggage while other like American (PGA sponsor) or United may let you bring it for free on top of regular luggage weight....upon arriving to pick up the luggage check around the carousel Airlines use the "fragile" system to be shipped and the clubs get the royal VIP handling...

That would be luggage to be checked. Usually each individual airline has a list of rules of what can and can't be carried on and checked.
Another suggestion, which I believe my dad has actually done, is ship the clubs ahead so that way they don't end like much luggage does - lost.

Have seen lots of people checking golf clubs in at the airport. I'd check with your airline carrier to see how they want them wrapped up although I think there are special bags for them.

that's a sort of inexpensive airplanes that would not have the little t.v. exhibit screen on the lower back of the guy in front of you's chair? i've got been on a pair of those. in spite of the undeniable fact that they weren't to any extent further than 6 hours so all i did grew to become into stare out the window and doze off. yet you're able to attempt taking a physically powerful e book or an ipod. in case you have a action picture telephone that is large as long as you place it into flight mode so it would not interfere with any navigation indicators. purchase a nintendo D.S. or yet another style of hand-held game. Get a bop it with headphones so it would not annoy human beings, they're quite addictive. only take as many categories of entertainment as you may so it would not get tedious. bear in ideas you wont be wakeful for the entire 17 hours. Have an excellent flight! :-)
