Jemma, don't just throw diagnoses out there for fun, you don't know what you are talking about. I do, I'm a psychologist.
It's good that your friend can tell you how she feels. The symptoms you are explaining are characteristic of a borderline personality disorder, which is not the end of the world, but those people can be impulsive, and destructive. I know it's the usual obvious suggestion, but I am a psychologist, so it may carry a little more weight. Is it possible for her to talk to a professional about this? Try that, if it is not, keep talking to her. She sounds in bad shape.

She is suffering from a chemical imbalance. Plus a thought disorder. Usely This can be treated. With proper med & good therapy. That's what I'm working on know going back to school
Study intro to psycology at the moment. Also sounds like maybe somekind of childhood truma.

There could be a number of things wrong with her. She could be surpressing some horrible memories or she could have a chemical inbalance. She should seek out a counselor or a therapist. Be careful though because there are people out there who act like that for sympathy. She would need a doctor to diagnose what is wrong with her. Without tests or meeting her, it's hard to tell. Thank you.

I think she should speak to a doctor as soon as possible. I had post natal depression after I had my baby and felt exactly like this.. well except for the sleeping with people i shouldnt bit...didnt want to sleep with anyone! lol.. There is alot of stigma attached to people who are depressed and also taking pills to combat it but I can honestly say that without the medication i woul d have ended up topping myself.. I am fully recovered now. Took a while but i'm back on track! Good luck with your friend.x

Sounds like Bipolar Disorder, Mixed, with Psychotic Features or maybe Borderline Personality Disorder. But I'm not qualified, I hope she can see a medical doctor and get help, I think she really needs it.

There's actually not a lot you can do - I would try encouraging her to go to her GP and get referred to a counsellor. Unless she gets to a really bad state (and obviously you want to avoid that) and is sectioned under the Mental Health Act (ie held without her consent) it's going to be down to her to seek help herself. She's lucky she has you to talk to. Are her parents aware of her mental state? A doctor will listen to family, but as a friend, they won't deal with you. My sister in law has had similar problems, although she's never been suicidal, and although she has been "sectioned" twice, the last time she had one of her episodes, she was able to admit herself which gives her more control over her treatments. She has been diagnosed as having "psychotic episodes" which is not as scary as it sounds (she's never been dangerous) and it sounds like your friend might have similar issues.

Could be just about anything, from personality disorder to severe depression. She should get her GP to make a referral to the local mental health team (if in the UK). They would do a full assessment. There are also lots of reasons for this type of feeling.

Get the girl to a therapist and let them give a proper diagnosis. One thing is for sure, your friend is not very well and could probably do with some help, be it by drugs or counselling! Good luck.xx
