can anyone tell me how do i make an image have transparent background instead of white? can i do it with microsoft paint?Or can anyone give me a link to a free software that i can download to do it?

You can have a transparent background in Paint if you click on the Image menu and remove the tick (check mark) in front of Draw Opaque. This option is visible below the Tool Box when you are using the selection tools.

Microsoft Paint isn't capable of a transparent background, but Photoshop Elements is.

Photoshop Elements is the free version of the main Photoshop package. Go to Adobe's website, and they will have a download available for you.

You can't with paint. You need a more sophisticated program. If/when you find this program look for an option called transparency, overlay, or opacity.

u can save the picture as .gif format .. this will decrease the resolution of ur picture so why dont u use adobe photoshop??

MS Paint can't do it, I'm not sure of any freeware taht can.
