In 2001, my father passed away on December 14th, in 2005 my grandmother passed away on January 1st. Just recently my grandfather passed away on January 25th.

My question is if my family is just cursed with dying in the winter or is winter a common month for death to occur, if so...why?

They didn't die from a cold or being homeless. They all died of natural causes.

My father died of a kidney failure
My grandmother died of a stroke
My grandfather died most likely from a blood cut in his knee as he just had knee surgery. He also had cancer.

So this does not relate to depression, being sick, being homeless etc..

I suppose cold weather is hard on old people, and the winter months can be depressing, too. Also, the death of a spouse or loved one can be bad for your health. Depression makes you not care for yourself as much.

It is seldom the fear itself that is the problem. the real problem is that we are afraid of feeling the fear, so we try to push it away or avoid it. Best way to get over it is to set aside some time when you won't be disturbed, get a notebook and pen, get comfortable and picture yourself on a roller coaster. Allow the fear to well up. Invite it in and welcome it. Then examine yourself as if you are a researcher, taking note of where and how the fear manifests in your body. Where do you feel it mostly? Where else? If you had to give it a colour, what colour would it be? Is it hot or cold? Is there a taste in your mouth? A smell in your nose? A feeling on your skin? The more attributes you can find, the better. Make a list of absolutely everything you can find about how it feels. Then write down as much as you can about the fear and how it has been affecting you. If this doesn't cure you completely the first time, go back and do it again until it does. You will be amazed at the improvement in your quality of life in all spheres after this. (I facilitate this process professionally).

Yes, Winter is a common month for death.

One Reason: Winter produces temperature inversions that cause air pollution e.g. PM10 and ozone to be trapped in the lower atmosphere increasing toxicity of the air we breathe.

It is a commonly known fact that in extremes of weather those who are more fragile often sicken and die, their bodies are less able to cope with the changes, and if they already have something medically going on it is even harder on their bodies- I used to be a nurse. Thinking of you in your sorrow, I hope that you can still find some joy and beauty in the winter time:)

It depends on the climate.
The kind of disease you catch more in winter like flu or common cold can be deadly in elderly people but so are heat stroke and dehydration that can occurs during severe heat waves in the summer.

winter is the void between seasons... more homeless die during this void...

Edit: Um... also, my grandmother died in January from health complications (complicated)... and so did my Grandfather (heart attack)... one of my uncles dies in December from 'mysterious causes'... so I agree... I was just adding to your list.
