I think for the remainder of the GW Bush administration at the very least.

U.S. Troops will remain in Iraq in some limited roles probably for the next decade. To think that we can totally pull out and leave chaos behind is unrealistic. We have to much of a vested interest in this. Even Democratic candidates have offered nothing in the way of an actual date that "all" U.S. Troops will pull out. I suspect we will stop policing within and just protect the borders within the next couple years. At the very least, there will be U.S. advisors there for 10 more years.

i think of we would have troops in Iraq for a minimum of twelve months after the subsequent president is sworn into place of work. New President could be sworn in, i've got faith, November 2008 so i think of we are going to have troops in Iraq till 2009. decision for whilst the project is finished is that if Iraq has been able to quit sectarian violence without the help of U.S. troops.

Our troops will be there until the extremist regimes in surrounding countries such as Syria and Iran are reformed or removed from power.
These extremist are the main funding sources of terrorist organizations throughout the world.
Once Iraqi citizens begin receiving oil revenue check, the militias are weeded out of the Iraqi army, and the Iraqi infrastructure is rebuilt the Iranian government will topple from within and we can perform the same in Iran. Every Iranian getting revenue from oil sales much as in Kuwait.

They will be there to guard the bush family in the new embassy that they just built in Iraq, as big as Vatican City. Why do you think they built it so large.

Hard to say at this point.
But I think they would stay there way longer than 2008 considering the importance of securing US interests in the region; in Bush's view that is.

Think about how long we have had bases in Germany and Japan. Then ask yourself the same question.
