He could be hungry or he may simply want to play and he's trying to get your attention.
Or it may be nothing at all...some cats are just very vocal.
We have a talker like that...all you have to do is look at her and she starts meowing.
As far as if there's anything you can do to stop it.
No, I don't believe there is.

you be attentive to what I propose, close up and handle it. I had the comparable concern too a pair of years in the past. there develop right into a stray male cat that lived around our section and he might come via the lounge window and initiate up meowing. perhaps the male cat is calling for a woman cat or possibly the male cat basically needs interest and feels exceeded over or lonely. why do no longer you supply it some interest and feed the cat some kitty snacks.

My cat, is almost 11 years old and she used to do that all the time, turned out she was simply hungry....During the day she has just about a cup of indoor dry cat food, but just before I go to bed she get half a small can of wet cat food, now the only time she meows is about a half hour before bed time and that's to let me know, hey feed me....she also meows to let me know to change her cat litter....Anyway good luck......

He wants your attention. You got to sleep you need to play now! When do you feed him, in the am? That could be a problem too, mine was like that until I changed feeding time to 11pm. You can't stop them from meowing and it doesn't matter how old they are, mine is 8 and still talks more often than not. He is just saying good morning and wants to spend time with you.

I have a one and half year old neutered cat who does the same thing. He stops as soon as I let him outside despite the cold temperature. Maybe your cat either wants to be fed or let out.

All cats seem to do this they figure if they are up you should be out of bed also. Try coaxing it to come back to bed or if it is an outdoor cat let it out or make sure it have fresh water and food. Not much else you can do except scream at it to shut up and hopefully it will.

He either wants attention (affection, or more likely, to play), or wants to be fed. I have the exact same problem with my cat.
Cats like routine, so if you go to bed at different times each night and get up at different times each morning to feed him, he might just be "protesting" this. ~_^ My cat actually goes so far as to "herd" me into bed when he thinks I've been up too long past my bed time! I've noticed that since taking my new job with a more stable schedule he's quieted down alot.

He's likely hungry or wants to get out. My lover does that and he's the same as your cat.

Full tummies don't meow much. Feed at bedtime and things will be better.
