No. What people commonly call a stomach flu is actually not a flu at all, and is usually not even caused by a virus. The virus which causes the flu doesn't usually cause vomiting or even nausea. Influenza causes high fever, a generalized fatigue, and muscle/joint aches and pains. Stomach disorders which cause you to vomit are most usually bacterial in origin, usually due to something you ate. People who are ill and vomiting are literally spewing the bacteria all over, not to mention we are social eaters- likely to share the same tainted foodstuff, food prepared in a less than clean kitchen or with less sanitary handling practices. So it spreads very quickly to others around them. The shot you get for the flu will protect you from the influenza viruses predominant that particular flu season. It will not and cannot protect you from anything else.
