My guess is that humans always ate for pleasure when something tasty was available but had the sense to know that the next meal wasn't guaranteed so that they ate for survival whatever the taste. Because most cave neighborhoods did not have 7 - 11s, people in the early days of hominids ate what was available when and where it was available. MY second guess is that the first convenience store was called night and day since hours had not yet been invented. Fairly early on, humans developed the ability to eat from the land. Being an omnivore had its advantages. When there were no hot dogs, there were still an abundance of rolls.

I like gyros, but don't get to have them that often. I like big Greek salads with tons of feta and Kalamatas, I can make those at home. Spanikopita isn't too shabby either!

There is a place next to me that has the best gyros and greek fries. Their baklava is to die for also. The man that owns it is straight off the boat and only speaks a little englilsh. Its the best!

I'm on a feta cheese kick.

I bought a huge block of it at Sam's Club and am making everything with feta.

I have discovered it's great in omlettes, grilled cheese sandwiches, of course salads and on top of soups.
