Hi Goldfish.. sutures ( stitches) ARE used, quite regularly after deep extractions, such as wisdom teeth, or where there's been a surgical extraction .By surgical I don't necessarily mean, being put to sleep in a hospital, but a complicated extraction that requires cutting the gum..this happens when we have very little tooth to work with due to tooth decay, or roots that are twisted etc..
With stitches there are 2 kinds.. disolvable ones.. they dissolve away themselves.
Ordinary stitches that I would normally extract after 5 or 7 days. The mouth is a fast healer due to its saliva.
I hope this eases your mind.
Take care,
Paul

those that are chipped would be extracted plenty swifter than those that are broken. counting on teh severity of the crack, the expertise the teeth might desire to take 40 5 minutes to be extracted. The chipped molars won't take very nearly that long. I recommend which you get knocked out, i understand that wasn't your question, yet an stress subject plus that long in the chair equals which you may desire to get knocked out. it would in all probability help to purchase some tylenol in case you're out, as your gums would be swelled and in a wee little bit of soreness after the extraction. wish that helped.

Ive never had stitches after having teeth removed, the wound usually takes a few days to heal depending on how strong your immune system is

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, it took about a week for the wound to heal. The stiches came out by themselves, although I do remember tugging at them with my tongue because they began to annoy me!

it will be appropriate for a week to remove the sutures after an extraction. at that time, hemostasis can occur. and it is necessary also to remove the sutures after a week because plaque will accumulate on the suturing material.
