Ive been pagan all my life, and just in the past few years Ive connected with, met, and become friends with other pagans. However,I have always had an awareness that there are spiritual forces that wish for my failure to be a positive influence spiritually on others;evil,I suppose you would call it,by it's motives and devices, has always recognized me as a threat to it's endeavors, and has countless times attempted to manipulate circumstances so I am challanged when I am doing good,or bringing light to someone who almost gave up and lost sight in what is good.I dont say that I feel this to be evil,as in a devil,or demons....But I do say there are spirits that desire our failure, as their victory.I have never met or spoke to a pagan who is willing to acknowledge what I know. They usually say there are spirits that are mischievious, even malevolent in nature, but there is no Spiritual war..I disagree.I have battled many negative spirits & people, and I have also been guided and blessed by others.

Just because they don't agree with you, doesn't mean they don't respect your beliefs. That's what's great about being pagan- we accept others' paths as just as valid as our own.. we don't use phrases like "not willing to acknowledge what I know" because that implies that there is only one truth out there. If you have "battled many negative spirits and people" then that's your experience. But, paganism is not monocentric.. we don't have a pope or a singular leadership that forces us into a mold of belief.
There are those pagans who believe there are malevolent spirits about. I haven't read nor have I spoken with anyone who has said there is a "spiritual war" going on. That's a christian theme taken from the pagan Greeks.
I personally find that most of the negativity around and within is self-created. I also find that terms like "manipulate circumstances so I am challenged" implies that one has no control over his or her own life. This is a contrary belief to the responsibility pagans take for their own lives, and again, smacks of christianity. I do not believe that there is a war going on and we're simply pawns in it. I take responsibility for my choices and the consequences. I also recognize the chaos factor in the universe, and understand that sometimes, no matter how hard I try, I won't get the exact outcome I desire. This doesn't mean some malevolent force is out to get me, though.
Regardless, I respect that you follow this belief and I wish you well on your path.

* I see a trend in paganism and that trend is the belief you are embracing. It comes from pagans being influenced by Christians and many pagans today talk about evil, demons and some even talk about Satan or the Devil. All of which are Christian concepts.
We as humans sometimes struggle with thoughts and desires and actions we know are harmful to us and others, but that is not good and evil, just natural part of life. There are negative energy and we sometimes dwell on that negative energy.
Change your self and you cast out any demons you think you are battling.*

Most Pagan religions have a spiritual war somewhere in their history either in the distant past or the distant future. Hellenic myth talks about the war with the Titans and the Olympians. Norse myth talks about Ragnorak and Celtic myth talks about the Tuatha de Dannan verses the Fomorians and the Firbolgs. Kemetic lore talks about the conflict between Osiris and Set...
So, yea.

No. I don't believe that. I see "good" and "evil" or destruction and creation as being part of a necessary cycle of existence, both are needed, they both have their place. As a Pagan, I view the idea of a war between light and darkness to be as absurd an idea as a war between chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
RJ: First, I'm a guy, second, I am a Pagan, I practice witchcraft, (which makes me a witch) as a lot of us do, witchcraft is a part of most Pagan religions.

It is hard to answer a question and say "all pagans believe" because our beliefs are so diverse and varied, but I would say that the vast majority of pagans feel that this power you identify as negitive are simply aspect of human nature. We humans are capable of great works of love, art and beauty. But we are also capable of death, distruction and hate. These two extremes are always present in every person, there is no need for the supernatural to create it. It is important to recognize this "power" as it is, created within oneself, and combat it with another power that you hold, the power of love.

I don't think visualizing this as a war will help. But yes, there are positive and negative forces in the world and in the mental worlds as well.

I'm not a pagan nor belong to a traditional group but I do believe that there is spiritual war (according to the Bible), war between angels and the devil and his demons.

I ain't a Pagan but I believe a spirtual war. I was with two different friends at a different time, same place and they saw what they thought were "Demons". Read my question, I got the whole story there. And for the person above "Ms. Prophet" didn't you just say you were a witch?

I believe in war... my limbs are soaked in the blood of mine enemies... my jowls caked with the carcasses of my spoils...
The war is occurring, but it is within the Kingdom of the Self.
