I bought the camera in December and took heaps of pics then and at Christmas time and it was simple to transfer the pictures to computer. Now they won't go onto the computer and my son reckons the software is rubbish and I should get rid of it, but I don't want to lose the pictures I already have. Any advice please

I fully agree with your son - the Kodak EasyShare software is rubbish. After it died on me for the fifth time and tried to hijack my pc after every re-install I finally gave up on it.
These days I use a $10 card reader to transfer pictures, and Picasa is a good program for browsing pictures and simple editing tasks - it's is a free download from Google: http://picasa.google.com/
I personally use ACDSee for browsing and Photoshop for editing, but these programs are not free.
You needn't worry about losing your old pictures. Everything that you've transferred so far with EasyShare is still neatly together on your computer. If you don't know where EasyShare keeps it all, you can find out by looking at the settings in EasyShare, or you can search for the pictures by hitting the Windows Start button, then Search, Files, and look for files that contain '*.jpg'.

I have not in any respect put in the application that got here with my 2 Canon cameras. One makes use of a SD card and that i have a slot on my pc that I positioned the cardboard into and it uploads the images. My DSLR makes use of a CF card and that i purchased a card reader to apply with that card. I positioned the memory card into the cardboard reader and plug it right into a USB port on my pc to upload the p.c... Card readers value in hardship-free words about $10 and are bought maximum places that promote digital cameras. purely be particular you get one which contains the cardboard your digital camera makes use of. With a card reader, you may upload p.c.. in any pc---yours or a friends. the cardboard reader i purchased value about $25 and that i will use any card in it, so that is solid for any digital camera i'd use contained in the destiny.
